So you've said how many people are in your family and who they are... now what? Let's move on to describing your family members.The great thing is that you can use a lot of the vocabulary from the previous unit on じこしょうかい (self introduction) to describe your family! Simply switch the subject of the sentences from わたし/ぼくto the family member you want to talk about.
Remember, the particle は goes directly after the subject of the sentence.

Stating a family member's age
Structure:
person は age です。
Examples:
わたし/ぼく は じゅうさんさい です。I am 13 years old.
あね は じゅうさんさい です。(My) older sister is 13 years old.
The two sentences are incredibly similar - only the subject has changed. However, what relation to the speaker is implied in the second sentence? Think back to your work on in-group/out-group relations.
Stating a family member's year level:
Structure:
person は year level です。
Examples:
わたし/ぼくは ななねんせいです。I am in Year 7.
あきらくんのおねえさんはななねんせいです。Akira's older sister is in Year 7.
